Our Accessibility Standards

Public Schools of Petoskey is committed to providing digital communications meeting or exceeding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.1 and is working on remediating (at minimum) level AA and A. The website platform used by the Public Schools of Petoskey (Foxbright) meets or exceeds WCAG version 2.1 and provides a monthly report of website and hosted files compliance issues in accordance to WCAG 2.1 within the A-AAA levels. Petoskey staff have undergone PD training to better understand creating compliant website content and documents. Public Schools of Petoskey has contracted with Foxbright, who along with district staff are routinely working to cleanup existing and outstanding compliance issues.

Third-Party Content

Content on third-party websites that are linked to the PSP website are identified on each page using the   icon. This indicates that the content on the third-party website may follow other accessibility standards. PSP is not responsible for the accessibility of content on third-party websites, but will offer reasonable accommodations and support as needed.

Accessibility Quality Assurance

PSP is dedicated to providing the resources needed to support our website accessibility standards. We have made substantial changes to our website, implementing standards and best practices that make accessibility our top priority. 

Routine Accessibility Auditing

A monthly website accessibility audit is performed through ADA compliance testing software provided by Foxbright CMS. Testing allows PSP to track areas of improvement and fix any accessibility issues.

How to Report Accessibility Issues

If you experience difficulty accessing any content on our website, we encourage you to report the issue using the following protocols:

  1. Contact Information:
    You may contact our PSP Accessibility Team by email at helpdesk@northmen.org or by phone at 231-348-2100.

  2. Details to Include in Your Report:

    • A description of the issue you encountered.
    • The specific page or content that is inaccessible.
    • The type of assistive technology or browser you are using (if applicable).
  3. Response Timeframe:
    We are committed to responding to accessibility concerns within 5 business days of receiving your report. If the issue can be addressed immediately the District will respond with the answer while then fixing the issue. If the issue requires more time to address, the District will provide you with an estimated timeline for resolution.

  4. Resolution Process:

    • Upon receiving an accessibility issue report, we will assess the concern to determine the necessary steps for remediation.
    • We will keep you updated on the progress and inform you when the issue has been resolved or if we are unable to provide a solution.
